what's in the news today? the infamous notoriety of jb…
downtown: ex-cop forces boy to perform fellatio
perling: teen girl murdered one km away from home
johor jaya: woman receives 28 stitches after snatch theft in front of her home
iskandar: jilted man sets woman's car and himself ablaze, killing himself
tebrau & universiti: group of men in an auto theft

the police had better stop waitin' at the pulai crossroads for bribes… and draggin' clubbers to jail for no reason…

i shall not make this blog a regular review of news articles but some weird article in the star caught my attention… so… entitled "decision not to date pays off"… it goes on to detail how a student in penang decided not to date ever since he stepped into secondary school… and how his "years of sacrifice" have paid off after having obtained 4As in the STPM… however… in the same article… there is also mention of his straight As schoolmate who on the other hand has a gf… lesson learnt… straight As and dating are independent events… NOT mutually exclusive… sorry for using stats jargon… hehe… friday… reached home from across the causeway at 0430hrs… couldn't make it for 0800 class so ended up goin' for the 1100 one only… slept a bit more and then had chow in mcd24… and dessert in secretrecipe… lunch was durin' teatime and dinner was durin' suppertime… which i had in mcd24 (again!) so it was all fast food… not that i'm not sick of burgers yet… just that i prefer the air-con and ambience of the place… which is a relief during scorching afternoons… like yesterday… it's my big bro's bday today… so… HAPPY BIRTHDAY! no he doesn't read this blog tho'… :)

i didn’t know that there was such a campaign until i read it on the raw feed… i must start readin’ the newspaper when i get back home i guess… malaysian cops certainly have innovative ways of enforcing the law… i’m not sure if this method is also being practised elsewhere overseas… the hall of shame is worth checkin’ out… just for entertainment… if you’ve too much time in your hands that is… :)

some interestin’ news… malaysia is the world’s largest exporter of… *drum roll a la portnoy*…

PIRATED DISCS!

now… that shouldn’t come as a surprise to many… but it is indeed quite a feat to be proud(?) of :P
take a look at the news
like i’ve mentioned earlier a few posts ago… dvd peddlers in downtown jb were blatantly displaying their wares in front of uniformed cops patrolling on duty… if any mpaa or riaa or rim execs were there… i suppose their jaws will drop… appalled at the disregard for the law… and the poor (if any) enforcement…

it’s happenin’ right before our eyes… but most of us are not aware of it…

just got hold of the eight-page booklet distributed all over campus detailing all the alleged dirty secrets and tricks of the government in choosing and sponsoring aspiration candidates to win in the upcoming campus elections all over malaysian public unis… the booklet reveals a lot on the conspiracy in utm especially… i urge u to have a look and ponder over it…
anyway… they have a site too… check IT out…
together we can make a difference…

Everyone involved should be aware that the submission date of appeal letters is on 10 March at 1000hrs… that said… much has been discussed in the forums regarding the principle of the issue… for instance… appealing for something which was all the while our fundamental right… of course, i shall not delve deeper into that… u could always go visit the message boards for interesting reads…

What i do know is that there are many people currently sacrificing time and effort workin’ behind-the-scenes co-ordinating this whole process of protest, appeal and championing of our rights so that everythin’ will run smoothly… i have heard their (the crisis team’s) view and opinion on this matter of appealing… well… basically it’s just a small strategy in offerin’ the authorities a road to peaceful settlement and compromise… if this meets with a dead end… only then will the lawsuits start pouring in i guess… not too mention a couple of other stuff they are currently workin’ on…

Through this ordeal (which is far from being over)… i’m once again reminded of the importance of student bodies (excl. MPP perhaps) and NGOs… some might seem politically-charged and all… but then if everyone was just busy minding their own business like ONLY poring over their books for example… then i do not think we would have gone this far… it’s times like these that these zealous champions speak up for the rest of us… and strategize our counter-attack… for that i’m grateful…

Politics is a ballgame i have yet to grasp… some of my peers are more aware than I am though… whatever it is… now is the time to combine our efforts and outwit our oppressors…
