bugs

one of the newest features of friendster really caught my attention… a javascript photo organizer and uploader for the gallery… it's a long-awaited feature that should have been there ages ago…i haven't really got to test it thoroughly but from what i've seen… it seems to be pretty neat and user-friendly… compared to its previous buggy and plain gallery manager… nevertheless… there's still room for much improvement… take for example the schools and colleges section where multiple entries exist for some of the education institutions… there should be more moderation and standardization when it comes to creating the list… then i wouldn't have six variations of my university's name to choose from…

the dropdown menus at the top are a new addition which eases navigation somewhat… however… the content of the blogs section is totally unrelated to what one would expect… instead of displaying a collection of feeds from your friends' blogs… another personally often-used feature is the explore friends' photos part which has been pretty inaccurate for the past months right up till now still… it doesn't really display the newest photos as it should… it used to work quite fine in the beginning but nowadays it's just plain hopeless… old photos are being with mixed with the new ones somehow…

for all the ranting about bad programming and implementation… i'd have to admit that my scripts are not completely bug-free too… and it's a matter of time before someone rants about it :P

rain

Where? Sport When? July 22nd, 2007 Who? [[[[|]]]]

the weather was fickle at nurburgring for the european gp… which ultimately cost massa a potential victory for ferrari during the final laps of the race… from the start it was an eventful and unusual race… with cars sliding off the slippery track in their slicks… as well as a dozen cars pitting together to change tyres as the track began to dry… and of course… the showers of blessing for renault which came at the last ten laps… whereby alonso was able to jump ahead to take the top spot in those wet conditions… a disappointing race for ferrari… with an almost certain victory snatched away… and reliability issues with the other car…

the rain also lasted from evening to night here too… and i was irritated by the intermittent astro transmission… which always happens at the most crucial moments of sporting events… the world cup final last year… and the eventful opening laps of the race earlier this evening… well at least i managed to catch some replays of the messy race start…

the weekend's over… it was just a usual one… eating and hanging out with family and friends… i'll get back to workaholic mode for the next five days…

codaholic

Where? Work When? July 17th, 2007 Who? [[[[|]]]]

last weekend was a three-day break for us… so most made their way back to their hometowns for a long-deserved rest and reunion with families and friends… i took the opportunity to meet up with some old friends for some drinks and a movie… indeed it was a relaxing breakaway…

i've been a codaholic of late… which explains why it's past ten at night and i'm blogging from my redhat workstation… my posts have been dwindling to about only one per week… and it's probably due to the fact that i spend most of my time at the office… so unless i start writing about programming syntaxes and other stuff that would put anyone to sleep… i've hardly any interesting events and pictures to share…

i'm probably not working smart enough… or am i just pushing myself beyond the usual?

an auspicious date it was… the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh year of a new millennium… it has been a hectic week with late nights out and long hours at work… i've been so looking forward to the weekend… especially to the barbecue at batu feringghi beach… which was a gathering for my coursemates and i who are based here… it was a great time of fellowship and reunion of sorts…

earlier in the afternoon… i got a dell 21" flatscreen at a fraction of the price of the original widescreen lcds i was initially aiming for… easy on the pocket especially when i haven't got much in it yet :)

Where? Hang Out, Work When? July 2nd, 2007 Who? [[[[|]]]]

i've been shopping for the past three nights… got myself a pair of jeans and a couple of shirts… i even got a new pair of specs… courtesy of my company-sponsored vision care program for people like us who stare at the lcd for half a day… and just like about everyone else in the city… my colleagues and i watched transformers over the weekend… a movie long awaited by many… advance bookings ensured us seats in the packed cinema…

it's been a long day and i've only got half the amount of sleep i was supposed to last night due to some nocturnal burst of activity in my brain which kept me awake… tomorrow i'll probably have some real work assigned to me i reckon… after a month of training… which is far from completion actually… but i've got to start somewhere… little by little…

no rest for the busy…
