esplanade by day and night… those of you who find my artificial-looking photos not to their taste… please bear with me ;)

a view from the garden near the war memorial monument…
and the supreme court as seen from across the field…

this is perhaps the most popular spot for shooting the skyscrapers of singapore's business district… there were quite a number of photographers (with tripods, much to our envy) around… and also countless number of couples making out in all corners… but that's out of the topic… anyway… we didn't do too badly being tripod-less…not when we've got wallets, trash bins, railings and whatever to help you stay still for those long exposures… although the positions were pretty awkward and tiring… all for the sake of hdr…

here's my university's mosque against a beautiful sunset… taken on sunday evening after the pylons… the three exposure-bracketed shots still turned out pretty dark much to my dismay… hence the noisy foreground…

the hdr trip yesterday to… well… our campus… provided slightly better shots… but without a proper tripod… there's only so much that can be done… so far we've had an engine-powered tripod (car) and also a precarious ledge (balcony rail) as tripods… but that's just so limiting to the angles and places we can shoot… anyway… here's one from yesterday… if you can guess where it's from… more hdr trips in the future to further places i hope… :)
the cold concrete numbs my feet
confined in a cell i can't tell
night from day when all pales away
imprisoned by my own reason
locked in chains i languish in pain
thoughts intertwined incarcerated mind
this is another pic from the photography trip we made uphill last week… to make up for the wrong choice of exposure, aperture and whatever on a high-tech dslr… much post-processing was applied… anyway… i simply can't wait for the next hdr outing… :)

i am relieved that much of the soldering that needs to be done is over… my eyes are red and i even got finger cramps while holding the wires… it is indeed a hazardous job… not to mention the constant inhalation of toxic fumes… i was worried that at the end of a long day's work… the circuit would be problematic… but it's working like it should so far… so i guess that's good… its five in the morning… and for once i didn't stay up late unproductively…
my friend just got a canon eos30d in the evening… and immediately we went to christen it with an hdr trip to the observatory… being the dslr noobs we are… most of the photos did not turn out as spectacular as we hoped… anyway… here's a composite of three thirty-second exposures of (a part of) the campus… electrical faculty's on the left by the way…

the slightest errors and oversights have lost me precious hours in my race against time to finish my receiver circuitry… and of course i have learnt that theoretically reasonable assumptions do not always result in practically functional results… i just hope it all falls in place soon…
