the title says it all… it basically sums up my entire month… i'm not proud of it… but that's just the way it turned out… of course they were enjoyable times… but i just wish i could be less of a procrastinator…  the holidays and the semester itself doesn't really feel all that different… in fact i had more work done during the holidays… i'm hoping that it won't cost me dearly…

time waits for no one… and i'll have to race against it soon before i'm left behind… 

spent the weekend at the historical city with a bunch of coursemates and a whole lot of food… all eat and no exercise makes jack a fat boy… but i am no jack… :)

i shall let the pictures do the talking… it was essentially all about food-hunting from one shop to another… sightseeing at the museums at the stadthuys… jonker walk… pahlawan and mahkota malls…

yes… we all love to eat… a lot too…

this is what transpired during one of my msn conversations this evening… she does have a flair for sketching… doesn't she? well… it's not all that hard to guess what the initials stand for… especially with the informative… and perhaps cute… illustration…

made a trip to kulai and senai last weekend for their famous ais kacang and roasted duck… the latter's especially delicious with its golden crispy skin… while the former didn't quite live up to the hype but was pretty alright nonetheless…

everybody got their fifteen minutes of fame today… as the popular expression goes… technically… most of them only had fifteen seconds to strut their stuff onstage and prove their talent… or rather… the lack of it… i spent around four hours in the audition hall where the preliminaries of akademi fantasia 5 took place… and for the first time… i could experience first-hand what a panel of judges in a singing competition have to endure and enjoy…

i haven't watched af at all before this unlike malaysian idol… well… their format is a little different whereby the first-round contestants are to choose and perform a song from a predetermined set in front of a panel of judges… as well as a few dozen of their peers who are waiting for their turn in the same room… which if i'm not mistaken differs from the idol's individual format… if the contestants manage to impress the judges with their rendition of the first song… they are then given the opportunity to continue with other songs of their choice to show off their vocal versatility as well as to emphasize their strengths…

all in all… only one or two in fifty managed to cross the first hurdle… a few rather good ones… in my opinion… were turned down… but on the whole… i would say that the judging was fair… most of the contestants were average singers… about one in seven forgot the lyrics or had timing problems… and only a handful of the few hundred that i saw were actually tone-deaf and sang way out of tune…

congratulations to all who made it to the next stage… including a friend of mine :)

actually… i don't have much of a tale to tell… i was just photoshopping a collage as an exercise after reading some tutorial… but anyway here is some filler… below are the three biggest cities in the peninsula… and also the little island that broke away… i can probably expect to see all… or rather… almost all of my friends flocking to these cities to start their careers in the near future… well… so far everyone in my (limited) social circle is based in one of these places… so it's safe to say that many more will be joining them…

as for me… i have always been attracted to our capital from young… with the exciting rides at sunway and the snow at mines… the huge shopping malls and happening nightlife… but as it turns out… my tertiary years were spent far south… and my future seems to be headed for the island up north… so i guess i shan't be a valleyite anytime soon… nor shall the initial plan of working across the southern border… which i was quite looking forward to… materialize…

well… the tide may change in time to come… but it looks settled for now…
